Understanding how to correctly apply and style eyelash extensions for mature clients, is a fundamental part of what we do as a lash artist. However, to correctly apply eyelash extensions to mature clients requires an in-depth understanding of how facial features change as we get older and how to adopt the correct lash techniques" this is something you won't ever find taught in eyelash extension courses, unless you take one of mine.
As we age we will are likely to see the following happen:
- Eyes may become hooded, with the skin on the eyelids drooping and covering the eye, creating in the illusion of a much smaller or droopy eye
- Natural eyelashes become shorter, finer, sparser and more delicate/fragile
- Natural eyelashes lose pigment
- Skin becomes more oily which can result in poor retention
Sadly, many mature clients believe that eyelash extensions are for the younger person only. This is usually due to them either being bombarded with images of heavy volume sets, or only noticing big bold OTT eyelash extensions, thus believing this is how all eyelash extensions look. They will have failed to notice the mature clients they pass in the street who are wearing a "well suited" set of eyelash extensions which look like they are their own!!!
