Understanding how to correctly apply and style eyelash extensions for mature clients, is a fundamental part of what we do as a lash artist. However, to correctly apply eyelash extensions to mature clients requires an in-depth understanding of how facial features change as we get older and how to adopt the correct lash techniques" this is something you won't ever find taught in eyelash extension courses, unless you take one of mine.

As we age we will are likely to see the following happen:

  1. Eyes may become hooded, with the skin on the eyelids drooping and covering the eye, creating in the illusion of a much smaller or droopy eye
  2. Natural eyelashes become shorter, finer, sparser and more delicate/fragile
  3. Natural eyelashes lose pigment
  4. Skin becomes more oily which can result in poor retention

Sadly, many mature clients believe that eyelash extensions are for the younger person only. This is usually due to them either being bombarded with images of heavy volume sets, or only noticing big bold OTT eyelash extensions, thus believing this is how all eyelash extensions look. They will have failed to notice the mature clients they pass in the street who are wearing a "well suited" set of eyelash extensions which look like they are their own!!!

In addition to this, there is a real lack of education on the subject of Eyelash Extensions for mature clients. The main reason being is that most lash artists choose not to post their work showcasing eyelash extensions for mature clients. Instead they favour the younger, prettier client who is more likely to attract attention/clients.

However, if lash artist's fail to cater for the mature client, they are really missing a trick. There is a real nichee for mature clients who want to wear eyelash extensions, therefore if you can understand how to attract and cater for these clients you can quickly double your income, just like I did when I tapped into a lash market that no one in my area was catering for.
